Department of Statistics

Department of Statistics, GC University, Lahore, is one of the oldest departments established in 1964 under the leadership of Prof. Sher Muhammad Chaudhry. Since then, the department has been striving hard to promote quality education in the discipline of Statistics. The department's mission is to develop market-oriented teaching and research in applied and theoretical statistics for the enhancement of economy, health, industry and agriculture.

The Department of Statistics works under the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, GC University, Lahore. The Department of Statistics has highly qualified faculty members holding PhD degrees from different countries like Pakistan, UK, New Zealand, Germany, Thailand, China and Malaysia. All the faculty members have a diverse range of expertise, teaching and research experiences and competitive abilities. They are very dedicated and passionate to contribute to the success of this prestigious institution. Prof. Dr. Jamal Abdul Nasir is the current chairperson of the Department of Statistics, and he is a great asset to the department because of his exceptional ability to steer it toward new heights.

Currently, the Department of Statistics is offering the following academic programs.

BS Hons Statistics (Regular \& Self-supporting Programme) MPhil in Statistics (Regular \& Self-Supporting Programme) PhD in Statistics (Regular Programme) Post Graduate Diploma for Computational Statistics and Data Analysis (CS \& DA)
