Obituary: Dr. Jaffer Hussain

Abstract

Dr. Jaffer Hussain, Incharge, Department of Statistics, GC University, Lahore passed away due to an accident on July 26th , 2017. He was the Chief Editor of Journal of Statistics since 2012. As a student, he got admission in GC University Lahore (then GC) in 1992. As a Research Assistant, he started serving this institution from 1999. He worked for GC University Lahore in different capacities such as Research Assistant, Lecturer in Statistics, Assistant Professor and the Incharge, Department of Statistics. His expertise was in the field of Industrial Quality Control and Design and Analysis of Experiments. He supervised many theses at B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Sc. and M.Phil. levels. He had almost seventeen Research Papers published in different national and international Journals. He attended various in-service teachers training courses organized by GC University Lahore in collaboration with Higher Education Commission and Quality Enhancement Cell of the University. Furthermore, he participated in numerous national and international conferences.

He was well-loved and admired for his enduring commitment to work. It is hard to believe that our gentle colleague and Incharge is no more among us. To us, as the Department, we will always remember his intelligent and humble approach. He had a down to earth personality. It is impossible to believe that his sincerity, integrity, calmness and dignity will no longer enrich our meetings. His services will not be forgotten. May Allah rest him in peace and grant him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous. Ameen.
